RPS Membership
From RPSWiki
When you initially register with RPS, you will need to create a membership account. This account is based on your email address and will be used for all of your avatars (individual Second Life entities) and characters (registered character profiles in RPS environments, of which there may be many per avatar).

Membership Benefits
- Your RPS Membership allows you to create characters in any RPS Environment (up to an unlimited number of total characters) with up to five of your own different Second Life avatars.
- Through combining all of your avatars onto a single membership, you are able to manage all of your characters with a single website login.
- If you are a subscribed member (see Subscriptions), all of your registered avatars benefit from the same subscription.
Membership Restrictions
- You may register up to five, but no more than five, avatars to your account. This restriction is based on the Second Life Terms of Service document which restricts the maximum number of avatars per individual to five. Because, by the Second Life Terms of Service, an individual should never have more than five avatars, RPS does not support more than five avatars in a membership account.
- While you may register up to five avatars to a single membership, you are not permitted to 'share' a membership across multiple individuals. Each membership should represent a single individual, no more.
Membership Privacy
RPS Membership records are kept on an encrypted and secure database table in which there is no hard-connection between email address and avatar name. Additionally, only one individual has direct access to the RPS database tables (the owner of RPS - avatar name Kenn Nilsson).
RPS promises, here in writing, that you will never receive unsolicited emails from us, that your email address will never be shared with any group or individual without your express and written permission, and that none of your avatar accounts will be tied together by RPS in any way that would reveal your accounts to anyone other than yourself.
Your identity and the identity of all of your avatars is completely safe with RPS. We have neither motivation or desire to share or abuse any such information and give you our solemn oath that your privacy will be maintained.
Why Membership is tied to Email
It has been asked why RPS requires membership registration by email. The answer is simple:
We needed a method by which individuals could identify themselves that was secure, private, and unique. The creation of a username was rejected because such would quickly result in the attempted registration of duplicate names and a lot of lag (and frustration on the part of the registrant) during initial in-world registration as the sign had to repeatedly return error messages that the name was 'already taken' and to 'please choose another username'. Tying membership identity to an avatar name was rejected for the sake of privacy - by instead using your email address, we ensure that none of your avatars are explicitly tied to your account and your identity remains (or identities remain) well protected. It was figured that a user's email address was by definition unique, not easily guessed by anyone attempting to hack an account, and easily remembered by the registered member.
If you do not feel comfortable registering your email address with RPS, we invite you to create an email address through any number of free email providers specifically for your avatar. You can then use that email address to register and maintain your account with RPS.
Lost/Forgotten Membership Details
If you have lost or forgotten your password, you may use the 'Forgot Password' link on the main RPS website to have a new password sent not only to your email address, but also to all avatars registered to your account via automated Instant Message in-world. If you prefer, you can also visit the 'Forgot Password' terminal on RPS Island in Second Life and touch it to receive a new/reset password.
If you have lost or forgotten your email address, you will need to visit the 'Forgot Email' terminal on RPS Island in Second Life and touch it. The terminal will identify the email address to which your avatar is registered and relay it to you through a private Instant Message.
