Skills, in RPS, represent areas of character specialty. The more a character trains in a skill, the more expert they are considered to be in performing tasks related to that skill and the more likely they are to achieve favorable results when using the skill in various situations. The maximum level of training a character can achieve with any given skill is 4. The minimum is 0. Many environments choose to restrict the training of certain skills either throughout the environment or based on character template. Skills that your character may not train at all are marked with an X on your HUD.

For those who wish to apply a 'rank' to the level of training in any skill, the following is a good guideline to follow:

  • Skill 0 = Untrained Novice
  • Skill 1 = Familiar with tasks related to the skill
  • Skill 2 = Proficient with tasks related to the skill
  • Skill 3 = Expert with tasks related to the skill
  • Skill 4 = A true Artisan/Master of the skill and its related tasks

There are a total of 35 skills, divided up into 4 categories: Physical, Mental, Social, and Miscellaneous. The skill list below declares the category of each skill after the skill name in the following manner: (P) = Physical skills, (M) = Mental skills, (S) = Social skills, and (Misc) = Miscellaneous skills.

In order to train a skill, it must first not be restricted (as in, it must not have an X displayed by it), and second you must have enough Myth available to allow the skill to be trained. Finally, for all skills except Miscellaneous skills, you must have a certain minimum stat value in the stat relevant to the skill (Physical, Mental, or Social). The table below summarizes skill training requirements.

Skill LevelRequired StatMyth Cost
(Level Environments)
Myth Cost
(Point Environments)
1 100 1 200
2 120 1 400
3 150 1 1600
4 200 1 3200

Each skill is explained in detail on its own page. Pages for each of the 35 skills are listed below.
